I heart Google Reader

I love Google Reader. For those who do not know what it is, it's a web based RSS reader.

Up until a couple of months ago, I was using some PC base RSS readers, and it seemed very unnatural to launch the application and wait for it to collect the RSS feeds. Google reader gets the feeds for you even if you are not online.

It has many other useful features that I use, which I will get to later. However, I just found out an incredibly cool one. You can share your favorite articles with everyone. Google reader even makes a cool blog looking page for it. Here is my shared articles. With one click while you are reading an article, you can add it to your favorites. The best part of it, your shared page also has an RSS feed. This makes RSS, which stands for real simple syndication, even simpler. So, now one can collage all various feeds from various sources and make his/her combined one.

I guess the next steps for Reader shared pages will be the ability to give it a more meaningful URL, ability to change the page template/format, and ability to put AdSense on it.

Here are some other reasons to heart Google Reader:
- You can just add the URL of a web page, and it figures out the location of RSS feed
- It has pre- compiled packs for starters
- Being Google, it allows you to search for feeds
- It has a mobile version (which I think needs some work)
- Allows viewing the articles in expanded or list view

Google Reader
truly is the inbox for the web.

i've been using google reader since the upgrade and i heart it as well. switched to it from feeddemon and never looked back.

the keyboard shortcuts makes it extra enjoyable. I have one major gripe with it though. Where the hell is search? This is "Google" Reader after all.. I should be able to search through my feeds.
